i just said a heartbreaking farewell as a weekend's worth of accumulated sand from the beaches of Mexico was slowly eroded off of my dust encrusted body by the first true shower in three days. .
Mexico was amazing: possibly the best trip out of the three AIESEC retreats over the last three semesters. First, to anyone who has not gone to Mexico yet, go; it honestly should be a mandatory excursion for all students, if not a legal therapy for anyone rattled by the mundaneness of Arizona. I had forgotton how beautifully the ocean reflects the sun right before sunset and the fact that you can sit with perfectly transperant warm water up to your neck and watch this natural phenomenon be obstructed only by fish jumping out of the water to see it too. Let me just say that despite the stigma placed on Rocky Point be it for its crazy drunken nights, lack of Mexican culture, etc (mainly by people that are too stuck on themselves to give it a chance) I feel fully reinvigorated and actually grateful that I have such a haven that I can flea to in about four hours.
As for the AIESEC portion of the trip, similarly would I say that I think this retreat was the most beneficial and worthwhile retreat we've taken. There was a feeling of self-control that was shared by everyone that really gave an innocence to the trip that we've lacked in past year. Of course that doesn't mean that there weren't any "hooking-ups" or "hangovers" but at least it means that there weren't random people from the streets that woke up in our house the next morning, which has happened in the past. I really can't write down everything good that happened over the trip now, even though I want to, just because there was so much. I will try for the sake of those who went to list the favorite quotes:
I'm a birfday present. (my favorite and also inspiration for my halloween costume this year)
Sea-Pubes
Surf Boardroom Meeting (I love uyen)
"so we looked at the world and said 'you're up to no good, why you making wars in your neighborhood?'"
Add any that you can remember.
I'll be adding more in installments over the next few days
